How to Solve Incomplete Turning Issues with a Double Screws Compost Turning Machine?

2026-03-10

Incomplete turning, dead corners at the bottom, uneven fermentation, foul odor, and clumping caused by double screws compost turning machine are mostly due to problems with the components, parameters, and materials of the fertilizer production machine. The following troubleshooting steps can be taken:

1. Severely Worn Helix Blades

Wearing down the blades reduces their material-carrying capacity, preventing the bottom layer from being turned up.

Solution: Weld a wear-resistant layer or replace the blades, ensuring a proper gap between the blades and the bottom of the trough.

2. Excessive Gap Between the Helix and the Bottom of the Treadmill

A large gap prevents the bottom layer of material from being turned, creating dead corners.

Solution: Adjust the frame height or the position of the helix shaft to reduce the gap and ensure the material reaches the bottom of the trough.

3. Excessive Travel Speed

The machine travels too fast, moving forward before the helix has fully turned the material, resulting in insufficient material agitation.

Solution: Reduce the travel speed and slow down the pace to extend the residence time of the material within the helix. 4. Material is too wet, too sticky, or caking. Material that is too sticky will clump together, causing the screw to slip but not turn the material.

Solution: Control the moisture content; add straw or other auxiliary materials to reduce humidity and break up clumps beforehand.

5. Screw speed is too low. Insufficient speed results in weak dispersion; the material only moves without loosening.

Solution: Appropriately increase the screw speed to enhance turning, crushing, and oxygenation effects.

6. Material pile is too high or the load is too heavy. If the material layer is too thick, the screw cannot turn it, only turning the surface layer and not the bottom layer.

Solution: Control the pile height, turn the material in stages, and avoid loading too much material at once.
