How to Prevent Rust on Organic Fertilizer Horizontal Mixers

2025-10-29

When handling raw materials containing moisture or corrosive substances, organic fertilizer horizontal mixers are prone to rust due to prolonged exposure to moisture. This not only shortens the equipment's lifespan but can also contaminate the finished organic fertilizer. Taking the following protective measures can effectively prevent rust.

1. Strengthen material selection and pretreatment. When purchasing, prioritize stainless steel or galvanized or plastic-sprayed models, as these materials inherently offer strong corrosion resistance. Before commissioning a new machine, remove surface oxide and oil stains. Apply anti-rust primer and topcoat to non-stainless steel components to create a sealed protective film that isolates air and moisture.

2. Standardize daily cleaning and drying procedures. After each use, promptly remove any residual material from the machine, especially any wet organic fertilizer adhering to the agitator shaft and impellers to prevent long-term adhesion and localized corrosion.

3. Perform regular maintenance and lubrication. Inspect bolts, bearings, and other metal components at the connections of the organic fertilizer equipment weekly. If rust is found, immediately sand with fine sandpaper and reapply anti-rust grease. The welds between the agitator shaft and the impellers are key areas for rust prevention. Regularly inspect the welds for tightness. If cracks or desoldering occur, promptly repair them and apply anti-corrosion paint to prevent moisture from penetrating and corroding the interior.

4. Optimize the storage and operating environment. Agitators that have been out of service for an extended period should be stored in a dry, ventilated warehouse, avoiding outdoor storage. If outdoor storage is necessary, cover with a tarpaulin and place a cushion underneath to prevent moisture. During operation, if the moisture content of the raw materials is too high, air them in the sun first to reduce corrosion.

Through material protection, clean and dry conditions, regular maintenance, and environmental optimization within the organic fertilizer produciton line, the risk of rust on horizontal agitators can be comprehensively reduced, ensuring long-term stable operation and extending the service life of the equipment.
